Surabaya – BRIN Public Relations. The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) through the Hydrodynamic Technology Research Center (PRTH) cooperates with PT. Octagon Precision Indonesia and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Brawijaya University in the context of developing Sub Sea Compact Swimmer Thruster. To encourage this research activity, a Cooperation Agreement was signed between PRTH BRIN, PT. Octagon Precision Indonesia and FMIPA of Brawijaya University online on Tuesday, (22/03).

“Sub Sea Compact Swimmer Thruster is an electric propulsion module that has strong thrust which attach to swimmers with the aim of helping propel divers,” explained Widjo Kongko Acting Head of PRTH in his speech. Widjo explained that this swimmer thruster product will not only help tourism divers but also divers from the Indonesian Navy in maintaining the security of Indonesian territory. “Hopefully this joint activity will not only be for paper writing and technology, but must also reach the downstream, that are patents and products that can be used directly by the community,” added Widjo.

President Director of PT. Octagon Precision Indonesia Sumardi said that this cooperation agreement is the first between PT. Octagon Precision Indonesia and PRTH BRIN. Likupang also has a tourism sector with the themes of resort and cultural tourism. In addition, the Kupang area is a major tourism destination in Indonesia. “Hopefully this cooperation agreement can support tourism areas in Kupang,” said Sumardi.

Dean of FMIPA of Brawijaya University Widodo expressed his gratitude for the realization of this collaboration, particularly as the university will directly involve in activities for the needs of the community. He hopes that BRIN and PT. Octagon Precision Indonesia can actively help Brawijaya University in the student education process at Brawijaya University. One of them is through the Independent Learning – Independent Campus (MBKM) program which can be carried out with BRIN. In addition, it is hoped that this collaboration can continue with the recruitment of outstanding alumni of Universitas Brawijaya in the Industrial field. (aml/ ed: sao, aps)
