Ministry of research, technology and higher education recently inked a new partnership with ministry of state-owned enterprises.
Called certified internship program for students (PMMB), the agreement was signed by minister for research, technology and higher education Mohamad Nasir and minister for state-owned enterprises Rini Soemarno on March 3 at Siliwangi University in Tasikmalaya, West Java.
Nasir called the program “the government’s real action to improve the competency of university graduates so that theirs can be in line with the jobs’ needs.” Program participants would obtain a certificate of competency.
“The ‘link and match’ between higher education bodies and the industry can be done through transfer of knowledge and technology as well as student internship programs,” said Nasir.
PMMB was designed to help university graduates compete in the professional world, said Rini. PMMB will run for at least six months and will be acknowledged as credits. This year some 9,000 students are expected to take part in PMMB at 113 state-run companies.
The signing event was attended by ministry high-ranking officials, state-run firm heads and local students.
