Tuesday, July 3rd, 2018, HE Minister Mohamad Nasir, on behalf of the Government of Indonesia delivered remarks during the commemoration of the 74th Anniversary of Belarus Independence Day.
He expressed his sincere appreciation to HE Ambassador Valery Kolesnik for giving him an opportunity to deliver a Country remarks during the special occasion, as well as expanding the sincere congratulations to the Government and people of the Republic of Belarus, on the celebration of the National Day of the Republic of Belarus.
Indonesia and Belarus bilateral relationship is very harmonious and strong, and the year of 2018, marked the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the diplomatic relation of both Countries.
Within the last 25th years of relation, both Countries have nurtured excellent relations, based on equality, mutual respect and good faith, in elevating greater and more comprehensive relations for the future, among others, politics, trade and investment, education, science and technology, as well as socio cultural cooperation, and people to people contact. HE Minister Nasir believed that this auspicious momentum could bring the same spirit for Indonesia and Belarus to make significant contribution for the people and for the world.
HE Minister Nasir also appreciated Belarusian support on Indonesian non-permanent membership for the period of 2019-2029, in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the period 2019-2020. This achievement cannot be successfully gained, without the support of friends of Indonesia, including Belarus. Indeed, Indonesia expressed its appreciation to Belarus for its invaluable support for Indonesian candidacy. Through Indonesia’s membership in the UNSC, both Indonesia and Belarus could continue to expand our partnership and cooperation on various global and regional security issues of common interest and concern.
HE Minister Nasir also appreciated both joint committees of Indonesia and Belarus which had the 2nd Meeting of Bilateral Political Consultation on May 24th, 2018. Such consultation meeting highlighted the excellent bilateral cooperation of both Countries, covering from political cooperation, economic cooperation, bilateral trade development, inter-parliamentary cooperation, as well as people to people contacts.
In addition, HE Minister Mohamad Nasir also underlined the bilateral relation, especially on the science, technology and higher education (STHE). Both Indonesia and Belarus already signed agreement since March 19th, 2013 and had the first (1st) meeting of the Joint Working Group (JWG) on STHE on 15-16 December 2015.
Later on this year, probably in September 2018, HE Minister Mohamad Nasir wish to conduct a working visit to Belarus, to sign agreement(s) related to higher education and vocational higher education program (training engineering and specialists), as well as open the 2nd meeting of JWG Indonesia Belarus on STHE.
Closing his remarks, HE Minister Nasir congratulated all Belarusian people upon its National Day, extended best wishes for the peace and prosperity of the friendly people of Belarus. He is convinced that the fruitful and harmonious relationship between Indonesia and Belarus will continue to grow stronger in the future.
