HE Minister Prof Mohamad Nasir acted as the Guest of Honor, representing the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, in the commemoration of the 26th National Day of Armenia, as well as the 25th bilateral relation of Indonesia and Armenia.

HE Minister Nasir congratulated HE Mrs. Anna Aghadjanian, the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the Republic of Indonesia, for successfully maintaining the bilateral relation of two Countries.

During these 25 years, Indonesia and Armenia have nurtured excellent relations, based on equality, mutual respect and good faith in promoting greater and more comprehensive relations for the future, among others, trade and investment, socio-cultural cooperation, people to people contact, as well as science technology and higher education.


HE Minister Nasir also informed the audience that a week ago, Indonesia and Armenia had held its first Bilateral Consultation Forum in the beautiful city of Yerevan. This bilateral Consultation had highlighted the excellent bilateral cooperation, covering business to business interaction, people to people contacts, the exchange of students, as well as diplomatic training and education cooperation. Indeed both nations have close ties in various forums including Bilateral, International and Multilateral, thus Minister Nasir believes that the Bilateral Consultation reflects both countries commitment, in order to bring its relations to a new level.

HE Minister Nasir also shared the information that in the area of people to people contact, the Government of Indonesia provides an annual Darmasiswa programme inviting foreign students, including Armenians, to Indonesia. Moreover, for promoting scientific and technological cooperation, many fields of cooperation could be explored further, especially in common interested areas like food, energy, water security as well as health and medicine.

Moreover, both Countries sincerely hope that the existing cooperation between Universities and Research and Development Institutes of the two countries, can be implemented for the benefit of the people from both Countries.

Futhermore, Indonesia which is currently intensifying infrastructure development especially in the sectors of transportation and electricity, is also open for more cooperation and investment in infrastructure projects.

Likewise, for promoting bilateral economic, trade and investment cooperation, HE Minister Nasir invited the Armenian business people to participate in the 32nd edition of Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2017 in Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD) City. The TEI is the right business platform for buyers, traders, investors and business visitors from all over the world, where more than one thousands exhibitors showcase many product with various features and with an extensive range of export oriented product categories.


In the context of regional and multilateral cooperation, HE Minister Mohamad Nasir also respected Indonesia and Armenia for their respective unique and strategic roles in the regions. Indonesia plays important which plays a significant role in the Southeast Asian region through ASEAN, and so does Armenia in the Eurasian region through Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). In this regards, Indonesia has great interest to establish Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

In order to expand our trade relations and potential markets, Indonesians fervently hope that the cooperation between both countries within EAEU can be materialised in the near future. HE Minister Nasir firmly believes that the strengthening of Indonesia and Armenia relations through this regional organization, will contribute positively to such respective regions, and also to the world.

Closing his remarks, HE Minister Nasir once again, congratulated the Armenian people on such auspicious day, and hoped that the fruitful and harmonious relationship between our countries will continue to grow in the future.
